Proposed expansion of Whaddon CE school (Decision taken)
Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Education and Skills
Decision status: Recommendations approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Purpose:
The governing board of Whaddon CE school have
recently consulted on a proposal that from September 2020 the
school expands to become an all-through primary school.
If agreed the school would admit 10 children into KSI and an
additional one pupil into KSII.
The school would build up to its new capacity over a number of
years.
At the same time the schools admission number would be reduced from
its present 18 to 10 in KSI.
Following a public consultation the school received 100% support
for its proposal and the governing board have now moved to the next
stage of the process which is the publication of a statutory
notice. After the publication of the notice there is a four week
representation period for people to comment on, support or object
to the proposal.
The final decision on the proposal will be made by the Cabinet
Member for Education and Skills in January 2020.
Decision:
The Cabinet Member:
AGREED that, as the school’s governing board and the Local Authority have followed the Department for Education statutory guidance, permission is granted for the proposed change of age range at the school and the reduction of the admission number from 18 to 11 for Key Stage One.
AGREED that the change takes place from 1 September 2020.
Clarification note (22 January 2020): the correct admission numbers should have read 10 children admitted in September each year (not 11) and then an additional 1 child from Year 3 (KSII).
