Election of Chairman

Minutes:

It was proposed by Councillor Naylor, seconded by Councillor Anthony that Councillor Pepler be elected as Chairman for the ensuing municipal year 2019/20.

 

There being no other nominations, it was

 

RESOLVED that Councillor D Pepler be elected Chairman of the Council for 2019/20

 

Councillor Pepler made the statutory declaration of acceptance of office and thanked the Council for his election. He thanked the past Chairman Councillor Dr W Matthews for her excellent service to the Council and to the South Bucks District.

2.

Appointment of Vice-Chairman

Minutes:

It was proposed by Councillor Naylor, seconded by Councillor Read that Councillor Egleton be appointed Vice-Chairman for the ensuing municipal year 2019/20.

 

RESOLVED that Councillor Egleton be appointed Vice-Chairman of the Council for 2019/20.

 

Councillor Egleton made the statutory declaration of acceptance of office and thanked the Council for his appointment.

3.

Declaration of Interests

Minutes:

There were no declarations of interest.

4.

Election of the Cabinet Leader

Minutes:

The Chairman requested nominations for the office of Cabinet Leader for the year 2019/20.

 

Councillor Read proposed Councillor Naylor as Cabinet Leader for 2019/20, and Councillor Smith seconded the nomination. There being no other nominations it was

 

RESOLVED that Councillor N Naylor be elected Leader of the Cabinet for 2019/20.

5.

Cabinet Leader's Appointment of Cabinet Members

Minutes:

To receive the names of Members of the Cabinet appointed by the Leader and to note the allocations of portfolios.

 

RESOLVED that the allocation of appointments to the Cabinet, as detailed below, be noted:

 

Cabinet Member for Resources – Councillor Barbara Gibbs

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development – Councillor John Read

Cabinet Member for Environment – Councillor Luisa Sullivan

Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities – Councillor Patrick Hogan

Cabinet Member for Customer and Business Support – Councillor Duncan Smith

 

The Leader gave a speech which highlighted the achievements made by South Bucks District Council and the opportunities and challenges ahead with the new Unitary District Council. He commented that the Council was in an excellent position to move forward and demonstrated excellence in Local Government. He passed on his congratulations to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council.

Minutes:

Regulation 19 of the Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meeting and Access to Information) Regulations 2012 requires a report to be submitted to the Council at least each year containing details of each urgent executive decision taken. In accordance with the Regulations, the Council was therefore asked to note the urgent executive decisions which have been taken since the last Annual Council held on 16 May 2018.

 

RESOLVED that the report be noted.
