6.     TRAINING

 

 

 

Prior to the meeting there was a training session for the Standards Committee. The Head of Legal Services gave a presentation on the ethical requirements of the Code of Conduct for Elected and Co-opted Members of Chiltern District Council, with particular emphasis on registration and declaration of interests, and the treatment of gifts and hospitality.

MINUTES

 

 

 

The Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 24 April 2002, copies of which had been previously circulated, were signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

 

 

 

     There were no declarations of interest made.

 

 

 

 

 

9.     DISPENSATION POWERS

 

 

 

The Committee was presented with a report by the Head of Legal Services advising them of the powers given to the Standards Committee to grant dispensations to members to permit speaking and/or voting at meetings in certain circumstances.

 

 

 

Members were also informed that under Regulation 4 of the Dispensation Regulations, the Committee was obliged to ensure that the existence, duration and nature of any dispensation granted was recorded in writing and kept with the relevant Register of Members Interests established and maintained by the Monitoring Officer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

RESOLVED -  

 

 

 

1.

That the report be noted.

 

2.

That the Head of Legal Services in his capacity as the Monitoring Officer be made responsible for recording the existence, duration and nature of any dispensation granted by the Standards Committee and placing a copy of such record on the relevant Register of Members Interests.
