Decision details
Decision Maker: Service Director Highways & Technical Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
Approval to undertake a formal consultation
with a
proposal to prohibit motor vehicles except for access in
Roughwood Lane, Chalfont St Giles
Reasons for the decision:
To eliminate the inappropriate high traffic
volumes for
this single-track road that cause congestion and damage to the
road. The legal reasons are as follows:-
a) For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road
or any other
road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger
arising.
b) For facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of
any class of
traffic (including pedestrians).
c) For preserving or improving the amenities of the area through
which the
road runs
Alternative options considered:
The feasibility study completed in early 2024
has not identified a straightforward solution to the problems in
Roughwood Lane.
An Experimental TRO (order only) has not resolved some the observed
problems
Wards Affected: Chalfont St Giles; Little Chalfont & Amersham Common;
Details of any conflict of interest declared: None
