All Members of the Senior Appointments Committee declared a personal interest in that they have a working relationship with one of the candidates - the current Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire County Council, Rachael Shimmin.

 

Councillor Martin Tett declared a personal interest that he was acquainted with one of the candidates.

Members were asked to note the membership and Terms of Reference of the Senior Appointments Committee contained at Appendix 1 to the report.

 

RESOLVED:

 

that the membership and Terms of Reference of the Senior Appointments Committee at Appendix 1 be noted.

RESOLVED:

 

that under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part I of Schedule 12A of the Act.

Appointment of Chief Executive

Members are asked to consider and make a recommendation to the Shadow Executive as to the appointment of the Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service for Buckinghamshire Council.

Decision:

Following the selection process, the Senior Appointments Committee RESOLVED to

 

RECOMMEND to the Shadow Executive

 

to appoint Rachael Shimmin to the post of Chief Executive for Buckinghamshire Council, on a salary of £210,000 per annum. The terms and conditions as outlined in the report and subject to an amendment in relation to parking arrangements, and with a notice period of 8 months.
