Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed all those present at the meeting and thanked everyone for their attendance.

A petition was considered dated 18 July 2022 from a total of 12 residents of Totteridge Road who wished to see the recently installed double yellow lines removed from Totteridge Road High Wycombe.

 

The officer recommendation stated that the yellow lines introduced following the statutory parking consultation remain on the road in question. The Presenting Officer outlined the primary reasons as to why the yellow lines had been installed, and stated that in response to the petition a review of the work of the original engineers had been carried out, to establish whether the parking controls could be reduced. However it was confirmed that this had not been possible.  

 

A Member commented regarding enforcement at the lower end of Totteridge Road, highlighting that the majority of the complaints received by residents were in relation to the lack of enforcement in the area. The presenting officer was asked why routine enforcement was not in operation. The Member was informed that any concerns could be considered by the Board or residents could submit specific concerns individually on the Council`s webpage.

 

RESOLVED: That the double yellow lines remain on Totteridge Road        

 

 

 

6.

HIGH WYCOMBE TRANSPORT STRATEGY & LCWIP CONSULTATION pdf icon PDF 3 MB

Minutes:

It was reported that the draft 2050 High Wycombe Strategy and Local Walking & Cycling Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) had been developed and informed by local stakeholder engagement. The plans proposed a range of transport measures to support population, economic and housing growth in High Wycombe. A public consultation on the draft plans was now live and due to run until 28th November. Drop-in events on 5 & 18 November were planned.

 

RESOLVED: That the information be noted and the detailed presentation material be circulated with the minutes.

Pei Harper from Trading Standards presented some information on the common types of scams that were taking place within the district often targeting the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

 

A Member enquired as to whether the customer services with in various companies could be made more accessible for the benefit of those who were limited in terms of computer literacy so that they were more easily able to lodge a complaint. The presenting officer stated that Trading Standards did not possess any statutory powers to force commercial organisations to be more accessible, but urged members to report any concerns or suspicions within the community and to link with care agencies and keep in touch with vulnerable groups.  

 

RESOLVED: That

(i)                  The information be noted and the Presenting Officer be thanked for her attendance.

 

(ii)                The presentation material be circulated with the minutes.

Simon Kearey provided the latest information with regards to Covid/booster vaccinations statistics eligibility and uptake in the Wycombe area. Sam Smissen and Tracey Fox-Clinch gave a detailed presentation on Flu vaccinations for Members` information.

SERVICE DIRECTOR UPDATE pdf icon PDF 190 KB

Matt Everitt Buckinghamshire Council - 5 minutes

Minutes:

The Service Director Update was provided by Matt Everitt, the report for which was attached at page 43 of the agenda pack as circulated.

 

Reference was made to the range of actions taken by the Council to help residents with the cost of living, a package of support which would continue to be developed over the forthcoming months. The role of the Community Boards was emphasised in helping to identify areas of need and supporting the provision of assistance.  The report also gave mention to Helping Hands and welcoming spaces, which provided further help to those in need.

 

Members were further informed regarding the new highways contract which would commence in April 2023, which would impact the Board`s projects currently in the pipeline and which would present an opportunity to build a delivery model with Community Boards in mind.

 

Further on going initiatives were also highlighted and included within the circulated report, including the current and upcoming consultations that were underway. One such consultation included a survey open to anyone living or working in Bucks relating to keeping the area safe.

 

 A member asked regarding the levels of crime in the area and what partnership building was taking place to reduce the levels of crime. He was informed that a holistic approach was being taken and a collective effort being made in the form of the Safer Bucks Board, which was a local community partnership that brought together experts from the police, fire service, probation and health and social care services to develop an annual action plan to reduce crime and keep it a safe place to be.

Minutes:

Gill Harding conducted a presentation on the support received for the cost of living for struggling individuals and families. Details were provided on the support funds received from central government and how the Council would utilise the limited amounts.  Reference was also made to the Helping Hand initiative and those residents struggling were encouraged to reach out to officers within the Council.

Minutes:

Members had received detailed information attached at page 19 of the agenda. This contained updated news regarding Opportunity Bucks, which provided a framework for bringing partners together to focus collective resources on talking local priorities that would make a difference to the outcomes of residents. The 5 main themes included: Education & skills, career opportunities, quality of the public realm, standard of living and health & wellbeing.

The Chairman reported that the Proud of Bucks process would be beginning again shortly. Sponsored by the Clare Foundation, the awards offered an opportunity to recognise and applaud outstanding community contribution in each of Buckinghamshire's 16 Community Board areas.

Minutes:

Members were informed by the Chairman that due to work commitments Councillor M Knight would be unable to continue to chair the Covid Recovery & Regeneration Action Group and as such Councillor M Hussain had kindly agreed to replace him.

An update was provided by Thames Valley Police on recent activity and initiatives within the area for information.
