ePetition details

We the undersigned petition the council to address the escalating safety and infrastructure concerns caused by increased traffic, speeding vehicles, and inadequate road conditions in our small rural community.

Key Issues:
Dangerous Crossroads and Frequent Accidents
The crossroads in Cublington have become a hotspot for accidents, with poor visibility and insufficient warning signs exacerbating the risk for both residents and through traffic.

Increased Traffic and Unsuitable Lorries
Our village roads are seeing a significant rise in traffic volumes, including large lorries that are entirely unsuitable for the narrow, single-track roads. These vehicles pose a danger to pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike, while also causing damage to road surfaces and verges.

Speeding Vehicles
Cars entering and leaving the village frequently exceed safe speed limits, endangering residents and creating unsafe conditions, particularly for children, the elderly, and other vulnerable road users.

Inadequate Signage and Road Infrastructure
Many road signs in and around the village are poorly placed, obscured, or in disrepair, failing to provide clear guidance to drivers. Additionally, the narrow roads, with limited passing opportunities, create frequent bottlenecks and hazards.

What We Are Petitioning For:
Improved Signage: Install clear, visible, and well-placed road signs, including speed limit signs and warning signs for the crossroads and narrow roads.
Speed Control Measures: Implement traffic calming measures such as speed bumps, chicanes, or average speed cameras to enforce safe driving speeds in and around the village.
Restriction on Heavy Vehicles: Enforce weight or size limits to restrict large lorries from using the village as a thoroughfare, redirecting them to more appropriate routes.
Passing Points: Evaluate the feasibility of introducing dedicated passing points to alleviate congestion and reduce risks associated with single-track areas.

Why This Is Urgent:
Without immediate intervention, the risks posed to our community will only continue to grow. The safety of our residents, including children and vulnerable groups, is being compromised on a daily basis. Additionally, the charm and tranquility of our village are under threat, as inappropriate traffic patterns and unsafe conditions degrade the quality of life for all who live here. By addressing these issues promptly, Buckinghamshire Council has the opportunity to protect our community and prevent future accidents or even fatalities.

We urge the Council to prioritise these improvements and work collaboratively with us to restore safety and peace to Cublington Village.
