Petition details

Denham Garden Village, our home, is a development of 327 retirement apartments, houses and bungalows built by Anchor, designed to offer a sense of community, security, independence and peace of mind. Unfortunately, the collection of refuse has been causing us anxiety for many years and recent events have prompted us to make a collective appeal to you for urgent attention to this problem. There are some 400 residents who live here, many of whom find it difficult to make direct representation to you individually, which is why we have resorted to sending you this petition. Please see the attached list of signatures.

We also enclose photographs of some bins taken on the 18th July. These and many more have been left in this state for well beyond a week. Why were they not emptied on time? Flies and ants have made their homes there. The heatwave has exacerbated the problem.

This is a strong HEALTH AND SAFETY issue.

Your demands for us to sort out the different types of refuse and to be precise is unreasonable. Your bins are designed for younger and stronger people. We feel that you should give some thought to your system as it applies to us.

To this end may we have a meeting between some of your senior officers and a representative group of residents?

May we remind you that you collect a great deal of money from us in return for which you only collect our refuse. We pay for our street lighting and road cleaning and repairs ourselves.
