We the undersigned petition the council to assist with the removal or trimming of a tree to allow footpath access

The tree is blocking the footpath and is damaging the road.

The tree location is outside 7-8 Wye Road. The roots have now grown into the roadway causing damage. It is blocking the footpath, which means that wheelchair, mobility scooter and pram users are not able to use the path correctly and have had to dismount from the kerb and use the roadway. Each property has space for vehicles and at no point are there vehicles blocking the pathway.

Every property in Wye Road received a notification by letter on the 29th of August, that Buckinghamshire Highways would be carrying out tree removal works on the 16th September for 48 hours. Planned road closures and works can be seen on one.network.

The day of the works came, and there were no road closures or any sign of workers. We were not notified about any works cancelations. It was not until I emailed the local councillor, that I discovered the works had been cancelled at the end of the previous week.

After contacting the councillor for further advice, I raised a complaint and FOI request to Buckinghamshire council, and they responded the works had been cancelled according to following Act: Section 115 of the Environment Act 2021, introduced in November 2023.

At no point was there public consultation or notification of a consultation. Furthermore, if this act existed then why proceed with spending council money on a TTO?

Following on, there was no survey carried out on the tree and no professional experts have come to survey the tree. Also, they state that the access is blocked by vehicles. Again – this is not the case. No one who resides at 7-8 Wye Road or in the vicinity parks next to the tree, and we have a verbal agreement amongst us not to.

This petition is to determine whether Wye Road residents would like to see actions followed up on.

This ePetition ran from 07/10/2024 to 04/11/2024 and has now finished.
