Title

Wycombe District Museum Service – Updating of Acquisitions and Disposals Policy in line with Museum, Libraries and Archive Councils (MLA) guidelines.

Decision Taken

Adoption of new MLA guidelines for Wycombe District Museum Service for incorporation within the Museum’s Acquisitions and Disposal Policy.

Reasons for Decision

In order that the Council’s Policy informs decisions upon the acquisitions and disposal of Museum items.

The review date of the existing Acquisitions and Disposal Policy (agreed by Cabinet on 12 March 2001) has passed.  The Museum Service in this decision is adopting a revised policy, revisions to which are minor and reflect current Museum practice.  This revised policy incorporates new guidelines as set out by the Museum Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).  Continued accreditation of Wycombe District Museum Service by MLA requires the adoption of these guidelines.  This revised policy will enable Wycombe District Museum Service to strengthen the chair collection with chairs of regional significance.
