The Member has taken the following decision.

The decision will take effect on Wednesday 30 August 2006.

Title

Collaborative Procurement of External Legal Services

Decision Taken

(i)

That the Council enter into a “call off” contract with each of up to nine selected law firms (ie Browne Jacobson, Davitt Jones Bould, Michelmores, Moore & Blatch, Foot Anstey, Paris Smith & Randall, Sternberg Reed Taylor & Gill, Veale Wasborough, and Weightmans) for the provision of legal services to the Council with no obligation on the Council to award any or any particular volume of legal work to any of the firms, with the terms of the contract being approved by the District Solicitor.

(ii)

That a contribution of £220 be made towards the costs of the exercise.

Reasons for Decision

To promote joint working with other authorities and to achieve efficiency savings, whilst maximising choice of external legal services providers.

Consultation Undertaken

The Heads of Property Services, Planning and Sustainability and Human Resources have been consulted and are supportive of the proposal.
