At this committee’s last meeting on 31st January 2006, members raised a number of questions on the 2006/07 budget item which could not be answered at the time.  This information sheet provides answers to those outstanding issues.  

 

 

What does the Footway Lighting and Bus Shelters estimate cover?

Footway Lighting & Bus Shelters

The District Council is responsible for street lighting in certain roads in the unparished areas of High Wycombe where the standard of lighting is not to that required for adoption by the County Council as the street lighting authority.  The revenue estimates make provision for additional lighting units when they are considered to be necessary.

The Council is responsible for three bus shelters at Kingshill Road, Dashwood Avenue and Copyground Lane.

The Current Programme of Work

The Council is currently replacing some street light columns as the material they are made from does not comply with current standards.  An inspection is programmed to be done on an annual basis; faults are dealt with between inspections on a reactive basis

How was the Financial Assistance budget spent in 2004/05?

Financial Assistance – Community / Village Halls

A total of £5,800 was spent of £10,000 budget.   A £5,000 loan was given to Sands Village hall to help fund replacing the floor.  The loan is repayable over a 3 year period.  The Council review the interest rate each March.  The interest rate for the year 2004/05 was 4.75%.  Also, a grant of £800 was paid to High Wycombe Town Twinning Association. This amount will not be paid back.

Community Centres-

Has the Hilltop Community Centre lease been signed?

The lease for Hilltop Community Centre was completed on 1st December 2005 with an annual rent of £12,000.  

Why is the rent being charged for Castlefield Community Centre when it is currently closed for refurbishment?

Castlefied Community Centre has been closed for refurbishment since September 2005 and is due to reopen in April 2006.   The High Wycombe Town Committee will not be charged for their rent contribution for this period.  This means there will be a saving of £7,000 for year 2005/06 and £1,000 for year 2006/07.
