i. To extend the Council’s existing Mortgage Rescue Scheme to include Ealing Family Housing Association (EFHA); and.

ii. To approve payment of £31,000 Local Authority Social Housing Grant (LASHG) to EFHA to support a Mortgage Rescue subject to Housing Corporation approval to this arrangement (exempt detailed item).

i. That the Cabinet Member for Customer Services agrees a new programme for letting grounds maintenance contracts, thereby initially reducing the overall number of contracts from six down to four. A further report will be presented to Cabinet after the commencement of the new amalgamated contract in May 2004 to determine the options available for further reduction; and

ii. That the Cabinet Member agrees that subject to satisfactory negotiations being reached with the existing contractor, an extension of one year be granted to contract areas 1 & 2 from 31st December 2002 until 31st December 2003 and that one larger contract will be let from 1st January 2004.

Agreement to enter into a Negotiated Contract to carry out a complete package of Renovation and Energy Improvements to six Wimpey-no-Fines dwellings in Cambridge Crescent and Wingate Avenue.

Agreement to enter into a Contract to carry out the replacement of Double-glazed Windows, Insulated External Doors and Upgrading of Loft Insulation/Ceiling Hatches.

(Title of Report): The Alignment of Grounds Maintenance Contract

Proposed Decision:

Consultation Undertaken:

Some discussion has taken place between the Council (led by the Cabinet Member for Customer Services) and existing contractors. Previously, Cabinet Members have expressed a desire to reduce the number of contracts and this also forms a recommendation in the draft Best Value Parks and Environment (Grounds Maintenance) Service Improvement Plan.
