URGENT Individual Decisions - Housing 2003/04, 61-2003 Young Parents Project

WYCOMBE DISTRICT COUNCIL

Urgent Decision Taken by a Member

Portfolio:  Housing

The Member has taken the following Urgent Decision.

The decision took effect on 18 June 2003.

Title

Proposed Project for Young Parents - 108 West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe

Reference Number

Schedule 46 - 61/2003

Reason for Urgency

In order for the Registered Social Landlord (RSL) to make a bid to the Housing Corporation, the local authority must demonstrate its support for the proposal.  Arrangements for transitional Local Authority Social Housing Grant (LASHG) funding require bids to be submitted to the Housing Corporation by 30 June 2003.

Decision Taken

That the District Council supports the proposed bid by Beacon Housing Association, to the Housing Corporation, for up to £233,050 funding, representing 50% of the capital funding subsidy potentially required to purchase 108 West Wycombe Road and carry out works to enable it to be used as a 5 bedroom supported housing unit for young parents, in return for nomination rights in the order of 75% over the property.

This is subject to Beacon obtaining an appropriate proportion of the capital and revenue funding they had secured for their original proposals for this scheme, at 12 Priory Avenue, and also subject to them being able to reach agreement for the purchase of the property from the current owners.

Date of Publication

Monday 23 June 2003

Reasons for Decision

To enable this proposed housing project to be provided at affordable rents, to access "Safer Communities" funds and to help deliver the Buckinghamshire Supported Housing Strategy.

Consultation Undertaken
