Decision:

Approval to proceed to Statutory Consultation and advertise permanent traffic regulation
orders for change to speed limit and consultation on traffic calming build-out.

Reasons for the decision:

1. Proposing a new build-out as traffic calming feature on Aylesbury Road, Cuddington.
There is insufficient space to provide build-out within the existing 30mph limit in order to
provide a speed reducing feature before car enter built-up area. Refer to Appendix A
for Build-out design plan.
2. Extension of the existing 30mph speed limit area and reduction in the existing 50mph
on Aylesbury Road, Cuddington. Refer to Appendix B for speed limit consultation plan.
3. All Local Unitary Members have been informed of the above proposals.
4. The scheme is promoted and funded by Cuddington Parish Council.
5. Councillor David Lyons has queried the proposals with a view to potentially reduce the
existing speed limit to 20mph within Cuddington village. However, the actual speeds
documented in the 2018 Cuddington Traffic Calming Feasibility Study would not support
the implementation of a 20mph speed limit without further measures to reduce the
speed limit, such as the proposed build-out. Therefore it is recommended to continue
with the build-out, and the parish council can review afterwards whether to pursue
further consideration of a 20mph limit.
