Decision:
A resident has expressed concern about the
name Slave Hill. Following consultation with residents and after
looking at the historical context, it has been agreed to retain the
name.
Reasons for the decision:
The reason for the decision is that Slave Hill
is unconnected with the slave trade and was named this way because
the ground was hard to cultivate. A recommendation has been made to
erect a sign to provide some context to the street name.
Alternative options considered:
The options were to consider whether to retain
the street name or enforce a change of street name.
Wards Affected: Bernwood;
Details of any conflict of interest declared: None
