Decision:
To accept the surrender of the leases for
Winslow Centre MUGA by Winslow Town Council to enable demolition
and site clearance in August 2020..
Reasons for the decision:
The overarching objective of the Winslow
Redevelopment Project is to redevelop and repurpose the Winslow
Centre site to provide greater commercial and social benefits for
the local community, not only for the present but to future proof
the town for the anticipated increase in population. The scheme
will also utilise the site to continue and better improve the
delivery of Council services.
It is proposed to redevelop the site largely in line with the
Winslow Neighbourhood Plan to relocate sports and community groups
currently using the Centre and its grounds while securing outline
permission to redevelop the site as new extra care accommodation
and a medical services and community hub for Winslow.
The demolition of the existing buildings, including the MUGA, at
the Winslow Centre site is the first phase of the enabling work for
the Winslow Redevelopment that were approved in January 2019.
