The grant of a new lease to Galore East (t/a
Menkind).
Reasons for the decision:
Unit 2-3 Friars Square is currently vacant.
The grant of a new lease to Menkind will generate a positive
revenue to support the Council’s services and will meet the
Council’s obligations under Section 123 of the Local
Government Act 1954. The letting will additionally activate the
unit over the Christmas period and bring a new user in to Friars
Square and the wider town centre.
Alternative options considered:
Not to grant the lease. This would result in
the unit remaining vacant over the Christmas period, which would be
to the financial detriment of the Council.
