Decision details
Decision Maker: Service Director Highways & Technical Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No

Decision:
This 30MPH speed limit proposal shall be
implemented by making a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
All recommendations set out in its report have been approved and
the proposed speed limit changes as advertised can be
implemented.
Reasons for the decision:
1. Presently a 40 MPH speed limit applies
between Stablebridge Road junction with London Road and Wellonhead
Bridge.
2. This route section is primarily residential in nature and
introducing a 30 MPH speed limit will reduce motor vehicle
dominance as well as emphasize that due consideration should be
given to the amenity of residents / non-vehicular road users.
3. The measures proposed should reduce traffic speeds which will in
turn reduce potential for accidents or severity of any collisions
that occur.
4. All Local Unitary Members have been informed of the above
proposals.
5. Refer to Appendix A for speed limit consultation plan.
