Decision:
To proceed with the implementation of speed
cushions on Hicks Farm Rise, High Wycombe.
The recommendations set out in the report have been approved to
undertake a statutory consultation of the proposed road humps as
advertised.
Reasons for the decision:
A} Transport for Buckinghamshire - TfB - have
been commissioned to undertake a statutory consultation and
detailed design of the proposed traffic calming features between
Gayhurst Rd & Baring Rd junctions;
B} Various measures were considered in the feasibility study
previously conducted however, the favoured option of providing a
combination of speed cushions and raised tables was deemed to be
expensive;
C} Position of speed cushions will be restricted by the various
private accesses along both side of the carriageway and extensive
underground utilities;
D} Councillor Julia Ward has chosen to proceed with introducing 4No
cushions to address the number of accidents that have been recorded
{following residents petition and representation from mother of
deceased};
E} Aims are to improve road safety for motorists / vulnerable users
as well as address concerns of inappropriate vehicle speeds which
should reduce the potential for collisions or injuries.
