Decision details
Decision Maker: Service Director Highways & Technical Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To introduce dragons’ teeth ahead of the
existing two village gateway features
Reasons for the decision:
For avoiding danger to persons or other
traffic using the road or any other or for preventing the
likelihood of any such danger arising.
Alternative options considered:
Rumble strips were originally considered
appropriate but following feasibility design this is not possible
due to the topography and distance of the village gateways from
dwellings. Following consultation, yellow bar marking has also been
ruled out due to similar noise concerns from adjacent
residents.
The Parish Meetings long-term aim is to reduce the speed limit
through the village, however current vehicle speeds are too high,
and a speed assessment is unlikely to be successful.
The Parish Meeting considered all types of traffic calming measures
before the commission was commenced.
Wards Affected: Grendon Underwood;
