Decision:
The grant of a deed of variation to the
existing leasehold at Unit 23/24 Friars Square, and the regearing
of the leasehold
interest held by the same at Kiosk 6 Friars Square.
Reasons for the decision:
The deed of variation and regear of the two
leasehold interests will help
secure the occupation of the tenant for the medium term and
maintain them trading within
Friars Square. The proposed variation and regear help generate a
revenue to support delivery
of the Council’s services and meet the Council’s
obligations under Section 123 of the Local
Government Act 1954.
Alternative options considered:
Not to progress with the deed of
variation
and regear. This would likely result in the tenant surrendering
their lease and the unit falling
vacant, until a new occupier is found. This would be to the
financial detriment of the Council.
