Chesham Youth Council

Chesham Youth Council – Updates and Plans for 2024

Minutes:

Chesham Regeneration Strategy (additional item to the Agenda)

Richard Ambrose and Shabnam Ali introduced the Chesham Regeneration Strategy.

 

Bucks Council have approved the framework for the 3 largest towns in Bucks. RA explained that funding is always a challenge in Buckinghamshire.

 

Richard and Shabnam shared a presentation on the strategy which is available online.

 

SA detailed the plans for a short-term project ‘Active Travel’ where new signage and greening will be installed around the approach to Chesham Train Station.

 

Both Unitary Councillors and Chesham Town Councillors asked the Regen. Team for clearer communication on the strategy and projects in the future.

Note – the Youth Council item was replaced with the Regen.

Opportunity Bucks Ward Partnership

Minutes:

Cllr Gareth Williams gave an update on the progress of the Opportunity Bucks programme in the Chesham Ward.

 

One project includes building a Forest School at Ivingswood Academy to improve their outdoor education.

 

The first Community Action Day at Hope Church took place early December and was a success.

 

Kate Walked advised that the next Ward Partnership Meeting is on 23rd Jan at 7.30pm.

Community Board Updates

Minutes:

Ross Tackley, Community Board Manager, gave an update on projects that the Board are currently working on, as well as looking ahead to projects lined up for 2024.

 

Ross also congratulated Sarah Graham from the Hilltops Ukrainian Support Community on her recent MBE achievement.

The Buckinghamshire Council updates will be circulated and give detailed updates from across the different services in the Council.

Colin McGregor-Paterson announced that it is the Oasis Partnership’s 40th anniversary this year. He also announced the end of the partnership with the NHS after 9 years and that there would be some positive changes to the Oasis Partnership. He also added that Jenni Parker (Ops Manager) is sadly leaving the organisation to take up a new position.

 

Cllr Jane MacBean introduced Louise Hayday as the new CEO/Town Clerk at Chesham Town Council.

Cllr Joseph Baum discussed the Health Awareness Day, and the new date is July 20th.

 

There were updates from the local Parish Councils.

 

There was an update from Amber Preen from Mama Bee who discussed the progress of the young women youth group that is being supported by Monica Bergh from Bucks Council and The Oasis Partnership.
