We the undersigned petition the council to address flooding at Oliffe Close, Aylesbury. The residents of Oliffe Close Aylesbury HP20 2BJ are currently facing a crisis of significant proportions. Our community is grappling with frequent flooding, rendering our homes, roads, and garages inaccessible and jeopardising our ability to maintain our livelihoods. This issue transcends mere inconvenience; it directly threatens our quality of life. Regrettably, this year alone, our area has experienced flooding on three separate occasions, with roads remaining submerged for extended periods ranging from 2 to 4 days, even after rainfall ceases. The aftermath of these floods often lingers for an additional 2 to 3 days, rendering our downstairs facilities unusable. The ramifications for our community are profound and far-reaching. Beyond the disruption to our daily commutes, there are serious health concerns stemming from potential contamination by sewage water.

It is imperative for the authorities to undertake the following actions:

1.Thoroughly clean the entry and exit points of the small bridge to ensure unimpeded water flow.
2.Remove all debris obstructing the river's path, as it currently compromises approximately 25% of its capacity.
3.Address the accumulation of mud within the river, which hampers its functionality and exacerbates flooding risks.
4.Enhance the infrastructure of drainage systems to effectively manage water flow and prevent future flooding incidents.

Furthermore, with the ongoing construction of new homes in the area, it is crucial that adequate infrastructure be established to accommodate the increased demand on sewage and drainage systems. Failure to do so will only exacerbate existing issues and perpetuate the cycle of inadequate infrastructure.

We urge the authorities to prioritize these essential measures to safeguard the well-being and safety of our community.
